Does your vehicle’s interior need a little TLC? Spills and messes are bound to happen with your family’s hectic schedule and hours spent in the car—but removing stubborn stains can be a daunting and time-consuming task.
Thankfully, with the right tools and guidance, you can have your vehicle looking spotless again!
In this article, I’ll walk you through a very simple process of getting stains out of your interior. Being a Professional mobile detailer here in Tulsa, Oklahoma I have ran into some easy stain removers and WELL….some not so easy 😊
Here I have put a quick guide that help you and maintain your vehicle in better condition.
This should take you only a few minutes to do. So if you need to clean up a stain before anyone else notices, you’ll be okay.
You’ll need a FEW items to get the job done:
Item# 1: A cleaner of some sort. I recommend ulphostery cleaning solution from chemical guys
Item# 2: A brush to agitate the carpet/fabric (or you can use an old toothbrush). You can also get away with just using towel if you don’t have a brush.
Item# 3: A few towels to agitate (if that’s what you want to do) and mop up the cleaner and stain.
Item# 4 (optional): You might need a vacuum (if you don’t have one, there’s another solution).
1) Vacuum the Upholstery
It doesn’t matter if your vehicle has a fabric or leather seats – it’s always a good idea to vacuum them thoroughly before attempting any stain removal. This ensures you aren’t smearing more dirt around and gives you better access to the stained material.
You can use a handheld vacuum cleaner to go over each seat or the long attachment on your regular vacuum. Try to collect all of the hair, crumbs, dust, and debris that’s lurking in your vehicle. Don’t forget to get into those seams and crevices that can house years’ worth of dirt.
Apply the solution, let it sit for 5 to 10 seconds or so, Just be careful about spraying heavy-duty cleaners in a small space – we recommend doing so with the windows open and outside of the garage.
Spray a small amount of cleaner onto the stain and let it sit for 5 to 10 seconds (you don’t need to over saturate the carpet).
You want to give the cleaner a few seconds so it can soak into the fabric and start breaking apart the stain.
You can try patting it down into the fabric to help penetrate the fabric faster.
Next, get your brush and start agitating.
Use medium pressure and work the brush forward-and-back and side-to-side.
Finally then remove it with a wet cloth.
Continue this process until the stain has been remove or to the point where you feel continent with your efforts.
The truth my friends is that some stains will be hard to remove or feel almost impossible, here is where I recommend to turn to a professional auto detailer necessary. If you’ve done all you can do and the stain is still there, it might be time to pay for car detailing services. The cost of car detailing pales in comparison to the benefit of removing unsightly, detrimental stains from your vehicle.
Although you can buy the same tools and equipment that most auto detailers use, you don’t necessarily have the experience that they do. Some stains call for the expertise (and hours of dedication) that only a professional auto cleaning team can provide.
